Kyoshi Kevin Plaisted, Sensei Tim Herlihy and senior club member Fluer Hindt travelled to Taree, Australia in early October. There to attend training sessions conducted and overseen by Soke Takayoshi Nagamine 10th dan Matsubayashi Ryu and MKAA chief instructor Sensei John Carlyle.
On arriving at Sydney airport and then picking up the rental car the kiwi trio had to navigate their way to the hotel and then prepare for the early morning road trip (four hours) to Taree. Not enough praise and salutations can be heaped upon the inventor of Navman GPS! A New Zealand invention coincidentally.
On arrival at Taree an invitation from Sensei Carlyle and his lovely wife Judy to come and watch the NRL Rugby league grand final at their house was gladly accepted. Sensei kevin, Tim and Fluer watched the game with Soke Nagamine, hosts John and Judy and senior club members from dojo's in Taree and Harrington. Although not the final result was not what the kiwi's wanted, it was a fantastic evening with good company, great food and cold beer!
